Standby Systems offers a wide range of batteries from Lead acid through to Nickel Cadmium and LIFEPO4.
The most commonly used battery in a UPS application is the lead acid.
There are several types of lead acid batteries available:
- VRLA – Valve Regulated lead acid (Sometimes called sealed batteries)
Design life: 3 to 5 years or 10 years
Actual life typically achieved on float service 2 to 3 years and 6 to 8 years
Cells are sealed by means of a high pressure valve
There is no free running electrolyte as it uses absorbed glass matt technology (AGM)
Relatively low maintenance product, small footprint requirement and easily recycled
Typical makes available are ELITE, CSB, ENERVISION, SONNENSCHEIN. These batteries are generally high rate cells.
- Vented technology
Design life: up to 20 years for some types
Actual life typically achieved on float service is design life
Cells are wet, vent large amounts of Hydrogen and require a special environment with regular air changes
High maintenance product, large footprint requirement and easily recycled
Typical makes available are ELITE, CSB, ENERVISION, CHLORIDE AND RAYLITE
- MF technology
Design Life: 3 to 5 years
Actual life typically achieved on float service 3 to 5 years
Cells are wet, will vent hydrogen and are designed for automotive use
Typical makes are DELKOR and DELTEC
