Our UPS Roots
Standby Systems was founded by its current Managing Director Mr Greg Bennett, who has a National Higher Diploma in electrical engineering and he has been in the UPS industry since 1989, when he joined Siemens UPS
In 2003 he started Standby Systems and in conjunction with the distributorship of the then AROS UPS systems, now days known as Riello UPS, which are 100% designed and manufactured in Italy, from 5 kVA to 800 Kw, Standby Systems has grown into a large UPS plant business, consisting of a team of highly skilled and professional UPS and battery backup, people, with coverage in all regions in Southern Africa.
Sitting at the helm with the managing director is Mr Thamaga Dona, our Technical Director, who also has a technikon Diploma in Electrical Engineering. He has been a partner and shareholder in Standby Systems since 2011, heading up the technical services departments. Thamaga has vast field service and fault finding experince, for many UPS makes, including Schneider, APC, MGE, Liebert (now called Vertiv) and local manufacturer Durapower, as well as an additional 9 years, at Standby Systems, with AROS RIELLO product ranges. Standby Systems Africa, is a majority black owned business.

Factory Testing Facilities
In assuring continued quality in all our products which are fully performance tested in our over sees production facilities, we additionally factory test all our equipment prior to dispatch to any site. Our fully functional test bay is also used for customer witness testing of units to satisfy that purchased products comply with their specifications.
Training Facility
In today’s ever advancing technological growth, continuous training is essential. Our training room at times serves as an impromptu discussion area or for set technical training, Health and Safety annual certification or quality awareness discussions. We also offer training to clients to ensure that they get the most out of the product they purchased and about the UPS system as a whole. Our UPS Transport Fleet
Standby Systems has a large delivery and UPS service vehicle fleet, consisting of 9 cars, 13 LDV’s, 6 and 14 Ton, crane trucks, for delivery and rigging, of any size, UPS plant. The rigging of the UPS units and batteries is conducted by a red seal artisan. Preventative UPS Maintenance and Servicing
Standby Systems offers its UPS and other emergency backup users:
- Preventative maintenance on all makes of emergency backup UPS products
- Preventative maintenance on all makes and types of backup batteries
- 24/7 emergency backup support
- 24/7 call out facilities for all preventative maintenance clients
- Remote product reporting of any problem or state change in the backup power supply, via the users network, to email or SMS any problem, with the use of the optional SNMP card.

- Planned preventative UPS and backup battery maintenance using highly skilled technicians, from the electrical engineering fraternity, all of which receive regular factory training at AROS RIELLO premises in Italy.
