How to supply single input PDU for IT rack mount servers and loads with dual inputs in case of power supply failure?

When a rack mounted IT load or server in a cabinet only have 1 input power supply, it is necessary for the IT user to consider a dual input power source inside the server rack so ass to bring the single point of failure in the UPS power supply as close to the single input IT loads as is physically possible and prevent unnecessary downtime.

In such cases the Riello UPS automatic transfer switch or ATS is the answer to solve your problems. The ATS allows for 2 UPS input supplies and has 8 x 10 amp single phase 220 VAC IEC plug outlets for connection of your IT loads in any rack mount application.

The two input supplies are independent of each other and do not need to be synchronised so they can be supplied by two different size UPS units even of different makes other than AROS RIELLO.

The ATS allows the user to select the preferred UPS supply which will normally supply the loads connected to the IEC outlet sockets. In the event of the primary UPS source failing the ATS will transfer the critical IT loads to the secondary input source and thus ensure load uptime.

The ATS has built in intelligence and will warn the user by way of alarms If the power consumption by the load is close to exceeding the rating of the ATS. The unit can be interfaced via an ethernet port for remote control and monitoring using the Riello UPS management and shutdown software tool.

The ATS is ideal for use in any PDU and its output circuits are individually protected so that a fault for instance short circuit on one of the outputs is immediately isolated and does not affect the other 7 critical loads.
