Why does an ELITE high-temperature battery last so long?

The ELITE low-maintenance high-temperature battery can work in a non-air-conditioned environment with a design life expectancy of 10 years at 35 degrees Celsius ambient whilst offering good performance under these conditions.

Some of the reasons why it is capable of this type of operation are:

  • The casing consists of vertical ribs within a tapered structure to aid cooling and extend the grid service life.
  • High-density lead paste with a high volume of active material available for discharging.
  • During the curing process, higher than normal temperature and humidity is used to allow for a stronger cell structure.
  • The amount of acid is reduced which prevents the cell from over discharging at elevated temperatures.
  • Carbon additive is put into the negative plate active material of each battery cell plate to prevent sulphation and increase the cells resistance to a partial state of charge discharge (PSOC discharge).
  • Low specific gravity electrolyte is used to reduce the positive plate corrosion by high acid content.
  • Optimised group bar and cell post welding is used in the manufacture to reduce the corrosion resistance against the electrolyte effects.

All the above result in a battery resistant to PSOC (Partial State Of Charge) discharge and can be used in float or cyclic applications.
